Tokens of Love by Gabriella Kiss

Gabriella Kiss’ delicate, figurative jewelry is at once poetic and scientific. Meticulously crafted in the finest materials, her precision reveals the awesome beauty of nature’s nuances. The daughter of a research scientist, Gabriella studied sculpture at New York’s Pratt Institute, learning to make wax models for casting, a technique that now defines her jewelry designs.

Through her renowned jewelry, Gabriella gracefully honors her enduring fascination with nature, with life cycles, with birth and death and the universe in between. Gabriella Kiss has an eye for the small and is drawn to detail, deriving inspiration from the flora and fauna of nature and the life cycles of the natural world and art history. The pieces are meant to have a personal meaning to the wearer, beyond adornment.

Earthly Delights from John Iversen!

Elegant, organic, exciting: it is impossible not to appreciate the natural beauty of John Iversen jewelry. Born in Hamburg, Germany, John Iversen now calls Sag Harbor, New York, home. A master craftsman, he has been creating jewelry for over 30 years.  Iversen’s foray into “Nature Casting” spans the gap between fine art and craft and perfectly showcases his unparalleled talents in both arenas. Working in bronze, silver and gold, Iversen’s wearable sculptures retain the delicate surface of the leaves that he so carefully chooses. John Iversen jewelry does  not recreate a hydrangea blossom or ginkgo leaf, rather it produces this contemporary jewelry artists’ concept of that leaf or blossom as a jewel. In this way, each piece is imbued with the feeling of its maker, another intimate distinction of John Iversen jewelry.

Being deeply involved in the fresh use of his materials, Iversen draws inspiration from the organic forms and surfaces seen in his leaves, incorporating them into his varied collection. Iversen’s work is as varied and unique as the natural world itself, with truly endless inspirations at every turn.

Gabriella Kiss “Love Tokens”

The “Love Token” series was inspired by the 19th century tradition of giving a painted eye to a loved one. Each ring features beautifully carved symbols; Both the large and small eye ring are inscribed with the Latin word “INVIGILARE,” which translates as “to watch over.” The carved hand ring is inscribed with the Latin  word “AMICITIA” meaning “friendship”. The lovely mouth ring is inscribed with “SAPIENTIAE”, which is the Latin word for “wisdom”. Live with intention with the  ear ring, which states “AUSCULTARE”, a beautiful reminder to “listen”. Fall in love with the eye with tear ring, which holds the humbling message “NIL NISI CRUCE” or “nothing without suffering”. Lastly, the series is rounded out with the nose ring, in which the message “IN MEDIAS RES” translates to “in the midst of things”and allows us to take it as we will.
