Maria Beaulieu has a keen eye for rock collecting. “For me, it’s all about the stones,” says the Maine native. “I find inspiration in everything from aquamarines to Argentinean agates to tumbled beach pebbles. I try to find the most exquisite specimens and then set them with just enough gold to highlight their natural beauty. I strive for simplicity and elegance in my work,” says Beaulieu. “I want my work to complement the person wearing it. I like the idea of creating a piece of jewelry and letting it out into the world to become part of another’s life. Ultimately, I’d like to share the beauty of the gems I discover with other people.”​

For those of you that caught The Oscars last night you were likely taken with all the jewelry that really stole the show! Historically it has been all about the gowns and getups, and this year the jewelry truly took the spotlight – and we were swooning! Interestingly, there was a large focus on the necklaces of the evening – everything from bold statement makers (Cate Blanchett and Scarlett Johansson, anyone?!) to layered looks, it was truly all about the necklaces. This time of year is so short, and so cherished! One day it is crisp and cool, with the breeze fluttering the changing leaves on the trees. The next day is sunny and warm – enough for a light sweater with your boots. It is ever-changing, unpredictable, and oh so much fun! The key here…layers! Ten Thousand Things was co-founded by Ron Anderson and David Rees in the 90’s, and they are still going strong designing incredible and innovative jewelry together in New York City. Materials they love to use include rare American pearls from the Mississippi River, unusual sapphire cabochons in beautiful colors, black opals and diamonds, in both brilliant white and unusual colors.
